Shadow Word Pain and Plague

My priest is level 35, and currently its impossible for me to consecutively cast Shadow Word Pain and Devouring Plague, because of cooldowns.

Is it possible to cast these 2 simultaneously at level 60?

The cooldown for Devouring Plague don't change when you get to level 60, if that is your question.

Of course you can cast SW:P and Devouring Plague at the same time at level 60. Like you can at level 35.

Um, arent they both instants? doesn't that mean the only cooldown incurred is the global cooldown? (1 sec)...not much of a cooldown? :P

just wondering because ive been dotted by some priests one after the other...and some at exactly the same time. wondered if it was a mod or an expliot to get over the 1 sec cooldown. i have a screenie of both on me with full duration which is technically impossible within the game structure . surely there should be a 1 second difference.

couple of priests have done this now, as i said, and a mate in the guild has noted the same thing.......

Devouring Plague has a 3 min cooldown.

Maybe devouring plague doesn't trigger global cooldown? So tried casting that first?

Shadow priests get a talent that adds a debuff called Shadow Vulnerability, which incidently has the same icon as Devouring plague.

So, when they cast a shadow spell on target (Like SWP), another debuff icon shows up, but it is Shadow Vulnerability, not Devouring plague.

If you're really in to casting those two together, they can be macroed. Although lua only allows one '/cast' command at once because of the global cooldown, you can


/cast Spell1
/cast Spell2

...and double-tap the button. Make sure Devouring Plague goes on first, or else you'll just recast SW:P again without casting the second.

Incidentally, this works quite nicely with a few combos I've tried: Nature's Swiftness/BigAssHeal, Inner Focus/Devouring Plague, even Sweeping Strikes/Cleave...
