vienas.net - New Domain 'n things...

As people who have been paying attention over the last 24 hours may have noticed.

Some parts of the website have changed, some new peices have been turned on and theres a, rather fetching, new theme available for people to use.

The cause of this is me breaking dragonblght.gany.net off from gany.net into its own domain. Something I have been meaning to do for almost a year and never found a name i really liked.

After talking with Aries yesterday about names for a guild I was putting Poag into as a holding pot, Aries gave me a great name, Vienas. Yesterday? you maybe thinking..thats a bit fast. Well yes and no, its been "in the works" for months, everythign was ready I just lacked a name.

For those of you wondering its a Lithuanian word meaning Alone, i personally love it as a domain name and I hope everyone else will too :)


So if you are reading this now, you have probably already been forwarded onto the new domain already :). I have been playing to get everything working correctly with the change, but I havn't seen any problems. You will have to login again, as cookies are attached to the old domain sadly.


The new name does not mean I want the site to move away from WoW or dragonblight...far from it. I felt that the community itself deserved its own name and identity rather than just living off to back of my own personal domain.

1 bad thing that wasn't around last forum, is that you actually have to click on the last reply in posts so it stops looking like there are new replies. Nvm seems its even something else, might be you need to read/open every new replied post? Kinda annoying.

I'm no forum expert and couldn't care less to become one but would be nice if this could be changed so you just have to open last page like before.

For the rest seems fine.

I have just enabled a different "this thread is read" management option, this one does it all inside the database.
Previously if you just went to a thread is would mark it as read [or should have] and would stick a little note in your cookie as to them you read it. This would then be checked against the DB to see if there were anymore "new posts"

The new way stores all that locally on the server, so should be more accurate :)

The downside is...it marks all reads unread to start with :(

No i am still on DB :) I still play Poag but also my alt Oena...who i am trying to lvl from 60-70 but failing to have motivation to do so :(

Although the new theme looks ok'ish I still prefer the old one.
But for some reason he doesn't want to accept my long-term change to the default skin and keeps reseting it to the new one :mad: I tried changing it in my User CP but that didn't help...

I had that, it only seem to happen when using the default skin, works fine using the air expanded one, which is rather nice when you get used to it.

Yeah after having a brief look I can see the problem is a missing folder. I have a backup of it in the office, i'll replace that folder and see if it fixes the problem, but it'll have to wait till tomorrow as my work pC is off atm.
