As I've recently read many horrorstories about people getting their accounts keylogged I thought of posting this when I discovered it on the intrawebs forumz browsing.

How this particular keylogger works: He hacks/creates accounts on guilds forums and picks a name similar to an existing member of the guild's name and posts a link which turns out to be a trojan or something like that.

Funnily enough the IP was tracked and turned out to be Portuguese :p

Managed to click a link (a .cn one) yesterday, luckily I have this NoScript addon, which might have saved my ass for the second time :P (no signs of a keylogger so far, scanned the comp twice with various malware/spyware removers)

If your going to write a keylogger and distribute it, then you are not going to do it from your own IP address.

So many people now have unportected networks (thanks to the wireless boom) that it is relatively easy to install a piece of code on someone else's PC and use that to distribute your keylogger.

Then send the data back to your own PC either directly or by hopping trhough more PC's first.

IP Banning wont stop the keylogger but a good up to date firewall and Virus/Trojan detection software used with common sense will give you 98% or thereabouts protection.

well odel is my brother in law, and only has characters on DB.
Besides that hes a complete noob when it comes to computers and forums.
I always have to login for him in order to sign him up for an event.
